Racing in Glasgow, Scotland, today, Laura Muir ran a 14:49.13 for 5,000 meters. That makes her the No. 9 woman in world indoor history and the new British record holder. Muir came through 3K in 8:59 and then significantly negatively split. One report has her kilometer splits at 3:02, 5:58, 8:59, 11:38, 14:49, though that would be essentially 72-second 400s for 3K, 63-second 400s from 3K to 4K, and 76-second 400s from 4K to 5K.

Muir ran an aggressive race in the Olympic 1500m final and failed to medal, but bounced back to run 3:55.22 (No. 5 all-time) and win the Diamond League in the event.
