Andre De Grasse Withdraws From Worlds With Hamstring Tear
Three-time Olympic medalist Andre De Grasse has withdrawn from the 2017 IAAF World Championships due to injury.
Canada's Andre De Grasse announced on Wednesday evening that he is forced to withdraw from this week's IAAF World Championships in London due to a hamstring tear.
The 22-year-old was expected to factor heavily in the 100m and 200m after earning bronze and silver, respectively, at the Rio Olympic Games.
The absence of world record holder Usain Bolt and now De Grasse in the 200m certainly makes Wayde Van Niekerk's proposed 200m/400m double more doable.
De Grasse's agent, Paul Doyle, confirmed that his athlete suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in training and must take six to eight weeks off.
