Georgia Freshman Will Sumner Goes Pro
Will Sumner, the NCAA 800m champion from Georgia, has turned professional and will be sponsored by Adidas.
Will Sumner, who won the NCAA 800m title as a freshman, announced he’s turning professional and signing with Adidas.
“After accomplishing my goals on the track, I have been presented with the amazing opportunity of going pro in track and field,” Sumner said in a social media post.
“Although I only spent a year with UGA, Athens will forever be my home and I’ll always be a dawg.”
Just 19-years-old, Sumner ran a thrilling 1:44.26 to run away from the field at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin.
Sumner qualified for the final of the USATF Outdoor Championships in the 800m and will vie for a spot on the US team on Sunday in Eugene.
