Former Distance Runner Michael Woods Wins Tour de France Stage
Canadian Michael Woods, who was a standout distance runner in college, won the ninth stage of the Tour de France.

Michael Woods, who ran collegiately at Michigan, won stage nine of the Tour de France.
Competing for the Israel-Premier Tech team, Woods was the first across the line on the 182.5-kilometer mountain stage from Saint Leonard de Nobolat to Puy de Dome.
Woods has track personal bests of 3:39.37 in the 1500m and 3:57.48 in the mile. He placed seventh at the 2004 World U20 Championships in the 1500m where he represented Canada.
He left distance running due to injuries and turned into a skilled cyclist, making his professional debut in 2013.
At the 2020 Olympics, Woods finished fifth in the individual road race.
