It doesn't get any better than this.

The nation's top two women's programs, Northern Arizona and NC State, dominated the Big Sky and ACC Conference Championships on Friday with 15 and 37 points, respectively.

Two weeks ago, it was NAU over NC State at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.

Has anything flipped since then?

What we do know is that each team is fresh off a big win and headed to regions next. There, NCAA qualifiers are decided.

Whether anyone has changed? Jury's out.

On Friday, NC State held things close to the vest.

The Wolfpack went 1-3-8-11-14 in Tallahassee, Florida behind returning NCAA champion Katelyn Tuohy and podium-finisher Kelsey Chmiel, superstar freshman Leah Stephens and back-end scoring juggernauts Sam Bush and Gionna Quarzo.

But Amaris Tyynismaa, who was listed, did not run.

Last year's ninth-place finisher at NCAAs would immediately give NC State an option that could power-load its lineup in the final meet of the year -- the exact kind of value-add a program would need to unseat the No. 1 team in America.

But the Wolfpack decided against it, keeping the Alabama transfer a bit of a mystery heading into NCAAs.

Northern Arizona, meanwhile, were perfect at Big Sky.

Nothing new to report there.

Elise Stearns, Annika Reiss, Aliandrea Upshaw, Gracelyn Larkin and Maisie Grice went 1-2-3-4-5 for 5,000 meters. For good measure, Ruby Smee and Nikita Moore went sixth and seventh. Of note, perhaps, was the weather: Missoula, Montana was frigid.

But NAU made no issue of it. Elise Stearns ran 16:21, while the next four women were at 16:50 or faster. No other team was even close.

The Lumberjacks, however, were the only nationally-ranked team in the Big Sky.

NC State, meanwhile, took down No. 8 Notre Dame (second), No. 10 Virginia (third), No. 28 Syracuse (fourth) and No. 30 Duke (seventh).

Three weeks from now, the final battle at Panorama Farms will commence.

Time will only tell, but Friday's precursors only added fuel to the fire.
