Jakob Ingebrigtsen Signs With COROS, Lauds Company's Advanced Metrics
One of the world's great distance talents is welcoming advanced metrics to take him to the next level.
IRVINE, Ca. -- Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the one-time Olympic, two-time World and four-time European champion from Norway, announced an exclusive partnership with COROS Wearables on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old is considered one of the world's great distance talents and heads into the 2024 Paris Olympics as an Olympic gold-medal contender in various distances, from the 1,500 to the 5,000 meters.
Ingebrigtsen is coming off a win at 5,000 meters at the World Championships in August in Budapest, where he clocked a time of 13:11.30. He owns personal bests of 3:27.14 in the 1,500m, 3:43.73 for the full mile, 7:23.63 for 3,000 meters and 12:48.45 for 5,000 meters. He won an Olympic gold in the 1,500m in Tokyo in 2021.
He owns an indoor world record in the 1,500m (3:30.60) and at 2,000 meters outdoors (4:43.13). He also owns a world two-mile best of 7:54.10, which he broke in 2023 in the Paris Diamond League.
"I am reaching a point in my career where I need to work on all the small things ... I am at a such high level that minor changes for the better can mean big improvements," Ingebrigtsen revealed to COROS. "With the data I am collecting, I believe I can have marginal gains, which is exactly what I need for the future."
Ingebrigtsen will use the COROS Pace 3 watch along with the company's Heart Rate Monitor to analyze and evaluate his data effectively in order to determine future training plans and methods. Moreover, as he discussed with COROS, his intentions are to utilize his advanced metrics to elevate his performances on the track and work toward becoming the best distance runner of all-time.
"We look forward to working with Jakob regarding the insights his training can have on performance," said Derek Dalzell, COROS' Head of Consumer Education and Athlete Management. "As we learn from Jakob, it will open new opportunities for runners globally who are also looking to improve."
