Quarter-Mile Phenom Quincy Wilson Drops 45.19 At The Florida Relays
The Bullis School sophomore wowed over the first day of action at the esteemed meet held at the University of Florida.
GAINESVILLE -- Quincy Wilson was at it again.
The 16-year-old phenom from the Bullis School dropped a U.S. No. 1 time of 45.19 seconds in the first section of the 400 meter run on Friday at the Florida Relays, coming up just seven-hundredths of a second shy of the world age group record at the distance.
Wilson clipped off 0.68 seconds from his personal best outdoor time of 45.87, which he clocked at the U.S. U20 Championships last July in Eugene.
He just missed the sophomore class and world age group record of 45.12 seconds, which Jonathan Simms achieved last August at the AAU Junior Olympics.
The Bullis School sophomore is coming off an indoor season where he became the first prep athlete in 20 years to break 46 seconds in the 400m, clocking a time of 45.76 seconds at New Balance Nationals Indoor.
Wilson was a part of three national records over the indoor season, including times in the open 400m, the sprint medley relay and the 4x400.
