UConn Women's Basketball is back in the NCAA Women's Final Four and are set to play Iowa on April 5 at 8:30 pm. Prior to this year, the Huskies made 14 straight Final Four appearances but fell short in last year's Sweet 16 round against Ohio State.

UConn has had a great year featuring the return of star point guard Paige Bueckers. The Huskies went 18-0 in the Big East and won their 22nd Big East Tournament Championship.

UConn started their preseason at the 2023 Cayman Island Classic to find their footing after taking an early exit in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The tournament included some of the toughest teams we've seen in the earlier rounds of the 2024 NCAA Tournament and brought UConn one of their only losses this season.

Paige Bueckers At The Cayman Island Classic

The Cayman Island Classic marked Paige Bueckers first tournament in her return following her ACL injury in 2022.

In Bueckers first game vs. UCLA she scored 31 points and shot 5-of-11 from 3-point range. She would then contribute 22 points vs. Kansas in her second game at the Cayman Island Classic. 

Bueckers being able to put up numbers this early in the year coming off injury revealed she was ready for the season ahead. Since then she has been at the forefront of the UConn offense leading the team in scoring this season averaging 22 PPG, ranking her amongst the top scorers in the nation. 

2023 Cayman Island Classic Teams In NCAA Tournament

The Cayman Island Classic featured some of the country's best teams, including LSU, the 2023 NCAA Tournament Champion. 

Here's a look at the teams from the Cayman Island Classic in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Virginia-  Virginia went 1-1 at the Cayman Island Classic. They also went 1-1 in the WIT postseason Tournament.

Kansas- Kansas went 0-2 at the Cayman island Classic. Kansas lost 73-55 vs. USC  in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament 

UCLA- UCLA went 2-0 at the Cayman Island Classic. UCLA lost 78-69 vs.LSU in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

LSU- LSU went 2-0 at the Cayman Island Classic. The Tigers lost in the Elite Eight vs.Iowa in the NCAA Tournament.

Virginia Tech- Virginia Tech went 2-0 at the Cayman Island Classic. Virginia Tech lost 75-72 in the second round in the NCAA Tournament. 

When Is The Women's National Championship?

The winners of the Final Four will face off in the National Championship on April 7 at 2:00 pm CT. 

When Is The WNBA Draft 2024?

The WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 15 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, New York.  

This marks the first time the WNBA Draft will be a seated event with fans in attendance since the 2014-2016 drafts held at Mohegan Sun Arena.
