Way-Too-Early Picks For The 2028 LA Olympics: FloJo's Record Is Going Down
Coming off a thrilling Paris Olympics, we put together five way-too-early predictions for the LA 2028.
The track and field action in Paris produced some of the greatest performances in both Olympic and world history.
But is it too early to look ahead to Los Angeles?
Of course not.
So let's take a look at potential scenarios we may see in four years. Check out five way-too-early predictions for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Julien Alfred And Sha'Carri Richardson WILL Challenge Flo-Jo's 100m Record
In just 10.72 seconds, Julien Alfred etched her name into St. Lucian and Olympic history, giving the country of 180,000 people its first ever Olympic medal.
Alfred took down U.S. champ Sha'Carri Richardson in the final of the 100 meters, winning her first global title and clocking the eighth-fastest time in world history.
The University of Texas product followed up her gold with a silver in the 200m, giving the Caribbean island its second Olympic medal. Richardson added 4x100m gold to her résumé after coming back to anchor the Americans to gold.
Looking ahead to Los Angeles, Alfred will be 27-years-old while Richardson will be 28, both in the prime of their careers. Let's put our prediction out there.
Alfred is going to challenge Florence Griffith-Joyner's world record of 10.49, a record that hasn't been touched since 1988.
Grant Holloway WILL Have The 110mH World Record Before Los Angeles
By the time track and field kicks off in Los Angeles, the Grant Holloway will be 30-years-old and we're predicting he'll have the world record at the 110 meter hurdle discipline by then.
After avenging his silver medal from Tokyo, Holloway won gold in Paris in 12.99 seconds and is now a three-time defending World champion and the winner of four out of the last five global titles.
Before he takes to the track in Los Angeles, Holloway could secure two more world titles in Tokyo and Beijing. Even four years out, Holloway will be the top dog in Los Angeles
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone WILL Run A Discipline Other Than The 400mH
At this point in time, we know Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is the Queen of the 400 meter hurdles.
But in four years, we feel quite certain that the 25-year-old will shift focuses.
So our prediction is that the two-time Olympic champion will shift her attention to the open 400m or even the 200m. That being said, we're willing to go further and suggest that McLaughlin-Levrone could be the favorite at those disciplines.
The world record-holder at 400mH has said that she believes sub-50 is possible over 400m hurdles. in four years, we might see her tackle that feat, especially with new track events like Grand Slam Track entering the space in 2025
Regardless, McLaughlin-Levrone will be must watch.
A WILD Prediction: Cole Hocker Will Go Up In Distance In 2028 And Challenge Ingebrigtsen At 5K
Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen has demonstrated that it's possible to run the 1,500m and double back for the 5,000m. He's won the last two World Championships at 5,000 meters and competed in 1,500m finals, coming up short over the last three global championships.
Cole Hocker became the Olympic champion in August when he took down Ingebrigtsen, Josh Kerr and fellow American Yared Nuguse. Afterward, he said that it wouldn't have been possible without his ability to run a fast 5,000 meters -- he ran 12:58.82 earlier this year at the distance.
So, our prediction is that Hocker will go up in distance for LA 2028 (while also vying for his second straight gold in the 1,500m).
Parker Valby WILL Be The Face Of The U.S. Women's Distance Contingent
Parker Valby is coming off the greatest stretch of racing in collegiate history.
During her senior year alone, she won five national titles and won 14 out of 15 races. At the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, the 21-year-old finished fourth and second in the 5,000m and 10,000m and had the opportunity to compete in both events in Paris, opting for just the 10K instead.
With personal bests of 14:51.44 and 30:50.43 in the 5K and 10K, the sky is the limit and could very well be America's best chance at a medal four years from now.
She'll be 25 and have years of championship experience on her side in Los Angeles, and be a medal threat in both events.
We believe Parker Valby will be America's top star by Los Angeles. That's our prediction.
