Masai Russell and Devynne Charlton To Race At New Balance Grand Prix 2025

Olympic Champion Masai Russell and the world indoor record-holder Devynne Chartlon are set to race at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Today, meet organizers announced that Masai Russell and Devynne Charlton will face-off at the 2025 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday, February 2.

Russell is the reigning Olympic Champion in the 100m hurdles and Charlton is the world record-holder over the 60m hurdles.

Most recently, Russell and Charlton raced at the Texas Tech Corky Classic on January 17-18. Russell posted a 7.89 over the 60mH, while Charlton posted a 7.93 for second. 

Additionally, both stars raced the 60m dash. Russell ran a 7.34 to Charlton's 7.50.

Both hurdlers will aim to best the current 60mH World Record of 7.65, a mark that Charlton tied at en route to winning the 2024 World Indoor Championship.

At that same championship, Russell finished fourth. 

Of note, the two hurdlers are training partners. Both train under coach Lonnie Greene in Lexington, Kentucky.

Grace Stark and Ackera Nugent will also race the 60mH. They were both finalists at the 2024 Olympic Games in the 100mH.

Meet organizers also shared information about the following match-ups ahead of Sunday's meet:

  • The Men's 800m will feature Bryce Hoppel, Mark English and Elvin Canales.
  • The Women's 300m will feature Dina Asher-Smith and Julien Alfred.
  • The Men's 1500m will feature Josh Hoey, Graham Blanks, Oliver Hoare, Jake Wightman and Grant Fisher
