Though the 60-meter dash takes less than 10 seconds to complete, it will be one of the most anticipated events at the upcoming 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for March 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

As of March 6, nine reigning champions are expected to be back at the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships to put their titles on the line. One is LSU’s Brianna Lyston in the 60-meter dash.
How Will The 60-Meter Races Be Contested At The 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships?
Each of the 60-meter events at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place over two rounds.
The first will be the preliminaries/semifinals, with each consisting of two eight-runner heats. Entrants are seeded based on the performances that qualified them for the national meet.
Eight runners — the top two from each semifinal, plus the next four best times overall — will advance to the final.
When Will The 60-Meter Races Take Place At The 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships?
The women’s 60m semifinals at the 2025 Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place March 14 at 3:48 p.m. Eastern.
The men’s 60m semifinals will happen on March 14 at 7:18 p.m. ET.
The women’s final is set for March 15 at 3:10 p.m. ET, while the men will hit the track at 6:10 p.m.

Who Won The 60-Meter Races At The 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships?
Women
Brianna Lyston, LSU
- Jamaican Brianna Lyston, who competes for LSU, claimed the 2024 title with a 7.03 performance. Her time made her the second-fastest woman in the history of the event.
- Her best time in 2025 was a 7.13 effort at the 2025 SEC Championships, and she’ll look to improve on that as the defending champion at the NCAA Championships.
Men
Terrence Jones, Texas Tech
- Bahamian Terrence Jones, who competed for Texas Tech, took home the men’s 60-meter title in 2024 with a time of 6.54 seconds.
- Jones also won the 200-meter race and helped Texas Tech to the 2024 team title.
Will Either 2024 Champion In The 60-Meter Dash Be Back To Defend That Title?
LSU’s Brianna Lyston, now a junior, will be back to defend her title in 2025.
Her season-best time of 7.13 is tied for fifth among the 16 qualifiers for the national meet.

The 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place March 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Live coverage will be provided by ESPN+ starting at 9:15 a.m. Eastern on March 14 and 9:30 a.m. EDT on March 15.
Those not able to tune in live can catch the rebroadcast on ESPNU on March 16 at 7 p.m. EDT.

About The Virginia Beach Sports Center
The Virginia Beach Sports Center opened in the fall of 2020 and quickly is becoming a top destination for premier events.
The 285,000-square-foot facility is located less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean and steps from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
The property includes 12 basketball courts, 24 volleyball courts and an indoor hydraulic track with seating for up to 5,000 guests. There’s plenty up space to meet, warm up and compete in comfort, with easy access to dining, shopping, entertainment and hotels.
