As Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill gets closer to the start of the 2025 NFL season, he still has one thing on his mind: a race with Noah Lyles, the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the 100m dash.

The talk on social media between the two has hinted at a race, which hasn't actually happened, but with Hill running a trial race on June 13, he says he's still training for the race. While no date has been set for the race, Hill said that he wants to race Lyles this summer.

Tyreek Hill's Training Race Time

In his training race, Hill ran an 10.15 in the 100m dash. Just one day after the Dolphin's minicamp ended, Hill went out to California to run the race. He won the race, but was still slower than any time Lyles has run in recent history. It took lots of digging, but was discovered that the slowest time Lyles has run was a 10.00 at the 2023 USATF Championships.

Dolphins Football Coach Mike McDaniel Surprised

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel knows as much about the situation as anyone else as to when the race will be or if it will actually happen.

“I have no idea, nor do I care," McDaniel said in a Dolphin's press conference. "First, theoretically, if people are competing and it’s helping their training — as long as he doesn’t train to be a sprinter and he’s running routes while he’s doing it, that’s cool. Whether I’m going to stand and say whether I’ll allow something — I don’t even know where that stands nor did I know that it existed, so we’ll cross that page. Right now, I’m worried about [practice] and making sure that he aligns properly in formations before he runs routes and doesn’t catch the ball.”

Noah Lyles Still In the Lead

Even having not raced an official time to compare to Hill, Lyles is still significantly faster on paper. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lyles ran a personal best of 9.79, which was fast enough to earn him the "fastest man in the world" title, given honorarily to the winner of the 100m dash at the Olympics.

Time will only tell if the pair actually race, and who will be the faster of the two.
