The 2025 5th Avenue Mile is jam-packed with talent - entries include the likes of Yared Nuguse, Drew Hunter, Josh Hoey, Hobbs Kessler, Whittni Morgan and Ajee Wilson are slated to take the starting line this Sunday, September 7th.

The field is unsurprisingly loaded - with many of the nation's best distance athletes set to compete after missing World Championships qualification.

Yared Nuguse certainly highlights the entries on the men's side. With his 3:43.97 American Record, he'll be potent when it comes to top end strength. If he leaves it even somewhat strategic, Josh Hoey may be able to capitalize.

Hoey has a 1:42.01 800m personal best and a 3:59.57 Road Mile PR.

Of course, you can't ignore the likes of Olympian Hobbs Kessler or specialist Drew Hunter. They could both snag the show from our two front-runners.

On the women's side, it'll be interesting to see Whittni Morgan make her return to the starting line. It'll be her first race since April - and she and her husband are expecting a baby boy in December. 

A few mid-distance stars are also in that field, including Ajee Wilson, Allie Wilson and Raevyn Rogers. They'll go toe-to-toe with the longer distance talents like Ella Donaghu and Karissa Schweizer.

Heather MacLean has had a stellar 2025 season. She recently ran a 3:57.79 1500m personal best at the Silesia Diamond League meeting. She'll be the favorite entering the weekend.
