Anticipation was building as we approached the Women's 400 Meter (Semi-Finals) during Day 4 of the 2025 World Athletics Championships. 

Featured in Heat 3 was American superstar Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

With high quality action having commenced in the previous two heats, all eyes focused on the 400 Meter Hurdles World Record holder, who opted to take on the 400m flat challenge at this year's Championships. 

Contesting the race out of lane 8, as the 3rd fastest athlete this year in the 400, McLaughlin-Levrone looked relaxed, comfortable and it would prove to never be in doubt as she displayed a dominant showing, running 48.29 to establish a new U.S. record time. 

Great Britain's Amber Anning, over a full second behind, secured the second auto-qualifying berth of the heat with her 49.38 performance. 

Jamaica's Nickisha Pryce posted a 49.46 finishing time for the third position. 

Further distinctions accompany McLaughlin-Levrone's remarkable effort. Her 48.29 time stands as the top mark produced worldwide in 2025 and represents the No. 7 result over 400 meters all-time.
