Multi-event athletes take the spotlight as the 2025 World Athletics Championships continue into the final two sessions with the decathlon resuming in the morning session starting at 8:05 p.m. ET.

The men return to competition with the 110-meter hurdles followed by discus and pole vault across two groups each. It is a pivotal stretch of events that could decide the podium before the final day.

Day 8 ended with a rush of medals and dramatic finishes. Anna Hall finally captured her first global gold in the heptathlon, closing with a strong 800 meters. Beatrice Chebet completed another memorable double by winning the women’s 5,000 meters, while New Zealand’s Madison-Lee Wesche stunned the field in the women’s shot put. Ecuador’s Juliesy Angulo delivered an upset in the women’s javelin, and Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi stamped himself as the new face of the men’s 800 meters with a championship record run.

Now, attention shifts to the second day of the decathlon. Technical events like discus and pole vault will test endurance, precision and composure as contenders look to protect their leads and climb the standings.

The final session features decathlon javelin, women’s high jump and 800m, men’s 5000m and discus, plus 4x400m and 4x100m relays, closing with the men’s decathlon 1500m.

8:20 AM - Men's Discus/Women's High Jump

Competition has been delayed to tomorrow for Men's Discus, as the rain continues to pour. Women's High Jump is currently waiting out the rain.

8:15 AM - Men's 4x100m Final

The rain continues to fall.

The American's get out well with Christian Coleman, Canada is on their back.

USA has some trouble on the second exchange, Canada closing.

It's all anchor legs, and Noah Lyles outruns Andre DeGrasse, to win in 37.29, the 5th fastest time ever. The Netherlands takes home third behind Canada.

7:58 AM - Women's 4x100m Final

It's the Americans vs. Jamaica, with Shelly Ann Fraser-Price in her final professional race.

Jamaica led through the two legs, but a rough handoff slows them down.

On anchor, it's Sha'Carri Richardson of Team USA holding off a fast-closing Jamaica team to win in 41.75. Germany takes third.

7:44 AM - Men's Decathlon 1500m (Final Event)

Heading into the final event, Leo Neugebauer (GER) leads American Kyle Garland by 15 points. Or 2.4 seconds difference. Ayden Owens (PUR) also a threat in third, with the best 1500m PR of the bunch.

Owens leads through two laps, doing what he needs to to move into first. The top two need to close the gap to stay in the mix.

Leo Neugebauer does what he needs to win, with a big kick to close the time gap behind Owens, who tied up on the final lap. American Kyle Garland takes third with 8703, Owens with 8784 for a new National Record, and winner Neugebauer with 8804, a Season's Best.

7:29 AM - Women's 4x400m Final

Now the Women are up. Sydney McLaughlin set to feature.

Isabella Whittaker opens up for the Americans well. Lyna Irby leads through Lap 2, it's a 15m lead.

Now Aaliyah Butler opening up the lead after Irby's 48-second split. Off to McLaughlin.

It's all USA for the 4x400m, in a new Championship Record of 3:16.62. McLaughlin splits 47.8. It's the 5th fastest of All-Time.

Jamaica takes second, with the Netherlands in third.

7:21 AM - Men's 4x400m Final

USA has made the finals, after a re-run earlier this morning. They have swapped in Rai Benjamin, Vernon Norwood, and Jacory Patterson.

The US leads through the first leg, with Vernon Norwood leading.

Jacory Patterson leads through the second lap, Botswana right on their tail.

McRae is pulling away, handing off to Rai Benjamin on anchor, vs the 400m World Champion from Botswana.

Botswana storms down the final straight, pressured by South Africa on their outside, pushing the pair in front of the Americans.

It's Botswana taking the win, with a photo finish for seconds. The tie is preliminarily given to the Americans over South Africa, but it's close.

The results are final, USA taking second by 0.002 seconds.

6:47 AM - Men's 5000m Final

The men are off to the finals. Cole Hocker looking to stay out of danger, leading the opening laps of the 5K, with Grant Fisher on his tail, and Nico Young in third.

2:40 for the first K, and Grant Fisher has thrown in an infusion of pace, stringing out the field to prevent a kickers race.

Through 3K, it's still Grant Fisher turning the screws on the pace, leading the pack out faster than they'd prefer. He splits 7:51.78.

The field swirls around Fisher, swallowing him to the back of the front pack. Jacob Ingebrigtsen has moved up, and is now leading.

One lap to go, and everyone is still in this!

Cole Hocker kicks from 300m out, and passes the leader on the final straight! Huge final lap for the American to win the Gold Medal in 12:58.30. Isaac Kimeli (BEL) takes second, and 10K Champ Jimmy Gressier (FRA) rounds out the medals, all under 13 minutes.

Cole Hocker closed in 52.5 seconds.

6:35 AM - Women's 800m Final

Here we go, kicking off the evening of finals with the two lap competition.

For the opening lap, it's out in 55.73, with Mary Moraa leading. Everyone in the mix, with Jess Hull hanging back.

What a finish for Lilian Odira! The two brits were leading down the final straight, but the Kenyan Champion storms the finish, passing both on the outside. Odira wins in a Championships Record of 1:54.62, good for 8th fastest All-Time. Olympic Champ Keely Hodgkinson fades to third, while Georgia Hunter-Bell sets a personal best to take third.

American Sage Hurta sets a personal best of 1:55.89 to take 5th.
