What To Watch: The 2025 Paul Short Run
A number of ranked collegiate teams will descend on the Lehigh Valley for the Paul Short Run this Friday.

The 2025 Paul Short Run promises to present one of the most important battlegrounds of the early season among all three divisions. In particular, the NCAA DIII field contingent will be stacked against eachother in what could be equated to a pre-national championship meet.
Hosted by Lehigh University, the Goodman Campus Cross Country course offers one of the fastest and most technical course in the Northeast. With the leaves starting to fall, and the mud starting to rise - the Lehigh Valley screams cross country. We'll be on site for all of the action, keeping you updated with interviews, live updates and more from Friday's action.

Can The Wingate Men Repeat?
The Wingate Men stunned Harvard at the 2024 Paul Short Run to win the Gold Race team title with 30-points to Harvard's 95. With a 23:34 average, Wingate placed five in the top 11 and cemented its status as one of the best teams in DII.
Wingate's biggest competition will likely be Villanova. The Wildcats are currently positioned 23rd in the FloTrack College XC Rankings, and are the highest ranked DI team in the field. The team is notably without Marco Langon (who is redshirting this fall), but Villanova is notorious for having depth.
As it currently looks, Wingate should run away with the team title. It will be the first time we see Wingate on the course this fall and we're expecting them to come out swinging. The team was disappointed with a second place finish at the 2024 NCAA XC Championship and will be looking for a redemptive season, starting in Lehigh.
A Division III Clash Of Ranked Teams
A few of the DIII men's teams snuck into the Men's Gold Race, but 12 ranked DIII teams remain in the College Men's White Race. This will be the most ranked DIII teams that we've seen in the same race this year - which will likely lead to new conclusions and plenty of movement in next week's ranking set.
We also have to keep an eye on the ranked individuals, namely Nathan Tassey (#6), Will Shuflit (#14), Jeffrey Chen (#22) and Ryan Podnar (#23). They're all ranked inside the top 25 and we're expecting them to clash for the individual title or for the top DIII finishing position.
Even though he's in the Gold Race, we're also keeping Emmanuel Leblond (Johns Hopkins) on our radar. He rose to the top spot of the NCAA DIII rankings this week. In that same category, we'll also watch out for Ryan Hagan (SUNY Geneseo) who currently ranks 14th.
On the women's side, the top ranked team in MIT is entered in the Gold Race. It'll be great to see how the squad fairs against Division I squads as well as #5 Johns Hopkins. It'll be an excellent opportunity for MIT to prove why it deserves the top spot as we continue through the season. Keep an eye on MIT's top five; Kate Sanderson, Rujuta Sane, Gillian Roeder, Lexi Fernandez and Liv Girand, as they are all ranked inside the top 35.
In the white race, we'll get similar levels of excitement with 16 (!!) ranked DIII teams in the fold. We'll be keeping a close eye on that battle, which we'll serve as a one of the most important clashes of the regular season.
