Team USA stepped up to the occasion on Wednesday evening by earning Gold and setting a NEW World Record in the Mixed 4x400m Relay in the first day of competition at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships.
The Team of Joshua Shelton, Taylor-Nicole Overton, Jaelen Hunter and Olivia Harris posted an unbelievable 3:15.31 to claim top honors over the Czech Republic (3:18.16) in second and Australia in third (3:18.45)

Team USA's 3:15.31 broke its own U20 World Record - previously a 3:17.69 set at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships.
Joshua Shelton got the team out to a solid start but it was Taylor-Nicole Overton who secured the lead for Team USA. She managed the break well and was able to separate herself from the field heading into the second exchange.
From there, Jaelen Hunter asserted Team USA's willpower and moved the Americans away from the field. This ultimately secured the win and Olivia Harris handled the final leg with ease.
