This morning, USATF announced that the 2027 and 2028 USATF Indoor Championships will be heading to the Midwest at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis has never hosted the USATF Indoor Championships, though the city has strong ties to the sport. In addition to serving as the home of USATF, Indianapolis hosted the inaugural IAAF World Championships at the Hoosier Dome in 1987, making the 2027 Championship part of the 40th anniversary of that event.

The championships will be held at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion, a unique venue that was built as a swine barn in 1923 before being renovated into a multi-use facility. In recent years, the Pavilion has hosted several high-caliber meets, including the Big Ten Championships, Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, and the USATF Indoor Combined Events Championships.

The 2027 Championship will take place on February 19-21, followed by the 2028 edition on Feb 18-20.

With the World Athletics Indoor Championships scheduled in 2028, athletes will compete for an opportunity to represent Team USATF in Odisha, India on March 3-5.
