The American sprint star has built an impressive résumé on the global stage, with plenty more expected from him as the 2026 season continues.

However, Lyles’ plans for the remainder of the season have now taken an unexpected turn, bringing a major update for one of track and field’s most recognizable athletes.

Here’s what to know about the latest development surrounding Lyles.

Noah Lyles Opens Up About 2026 Season Setback

Lyles’ 2026 season has taken an unexpected turn following an injury issue that surfaced after the U.S. Championships. The setback has now forced the Olympic champion to change his plans for the remainder of the year.

“After running at USA’s, we found out that I had a small strain,” Lyles said. “The rehab we had putting together went really well.”

However, the initial injury ultimately created additional problems that made it difficult for Lyles to maintain his training. “Unfortunately, because of the strain, it caused some other things to flare up and it made it hard for me to continue practicing,” he explained.

The decision brings Lyles’ 2026 campaign to an early close, giving the sprint star an opportunity to focus on getting healthy and preparing for the major seasons ahead.
