The Week Ahead-(Mar 31.-April 6)
The Week Ahead is one that you should circle on your calender, because it is sure to be one to remember. The pros had their time in the spotlight last week but this weekend will be the collegiate runners' opportunity to shine. The competition this weekend is intense now that we are in the middle of an up in the air outdoor season. As you have seen Flotrack will be covering action all over the country from the west coast to the east coast and everywhere in between. Isn't it awesome to see how Flotrack has grown so much over the past year. That is thanks in part to you, the common Flotracker. So thank you for all that you do. Well back to the action! Make sure to go to Flotrack.com all weekend long for your play by play coverage of the Stanford Invit., Texas Relays, and the Florida Relays. Expect to start seeing many more pro athletes making an appearance at many of these big meets however trying to get a standard to get into the Olympic Trials. I will actually be running the 3000m Steeplechase at the Florida Relays this weekend. There are some big names that I have seen that have entered this meet by the name of Xavier Carter, Bershawn Jackson, and Mark Carroll. This meet along with the Texas Relays are also a couple of the biggest high school meets in the country. These meets are known for their fast sprints and this year will not be any different. If that isn't your kick the Stanford Invitational will give you your fix in the distance events. Many of our nations best distance runners will convene there in hopes of making it to Nationals and even maybe the Trials. There are plenty of other top meets including the Arizona Jim Click Shootout, Auburn Tiger Classic, Oregon Pepsi Team Invitational, and round two Ohio State vs. Michigan plus many more. Don't forget about these meets because they too will have plenty of regional qualifying times. I personally am just so excited about the amount of depth that America has in track and field and can not wait for this year's Olympics. I know many Americans and well the world to say the least are hesitant about the conditions in Beijing, but from the words of Dathan Ritzenhein deal with it. Everyone has to deal with the same conditions. I believe in our guys/girls and hopefully this year even our distance runners will come back with medals around their necks. If anybody has a free ticket I will deal with the smog! Good luck to all the teams/individuals competing this weekend be safe and run fast! Always make sure to check out the News and Results on the Flotrack Website for any extra information! Nathan Haskins “News and Results Guy” (pic)-http://d.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/ng/sp/empics/5097641
