This Valentine’s Day, many runners spent it with their one true love, track and field. There was plenty action (watch it here on flotrack!) with some amazing qualifying performances. I have tried to cover as many meets as possible. If there is anything I have missed, and I am sure that I did, go ahead and leave a comment with the times. Also, if there are any meets next weekend that you think should be included in my next article, let me know.

Air Force Invitational –Abilene Christian’s Wanda Hutson won the women’s 60 meter dash with an automatic qualifying time of 7.34, and ran an automatic qualifying  24.27 in women’s 200m. In the women’s 400 meters, Abilene Christian’s Kim Prather won with an automatic qualifying time of 56.64.

 Western’s State Sophomore, Nathan Dorzweiler took second in the 60 meter dash with a provisional qualifying time of 6.85. There were a host of qualifiers in the men’s 200 meters including: Dorzwieler (21.50), Abilene Christian’s Jordan Johnson (21.70), Desmond Jackson (21.82), and Raymond Radway (21.87).

BU Valentine Invitational- Lock Haven’s Shala Simms (2:14.05), UMass Lowell’s Haley Catarius (2:14.55), and Stonehill’s Susan O’Connell (2:17.25) all ran provisional qualifying times in the women’s 800 meters. Bentley’s Melissa Nash came in sixth in the women’s 5k with a provisional qualifying time of 17:20.90. UMass Lowell’s 4x400 meter provisionally qualified with a 3:54.53, and their Distance Medley relay provisionally qualified with in 11:45.26.

Lock Haven’s Greg Mock provisionally qualified in the 55 meter dash with 6.49. His teammate, Chris Jones, provisionally qualified in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.95. Lock Haven’s Chris Edelman provisionally qualified in the 400 meters with a time of 48.24. UMass Lowell’s Ruben Sanca automatically qualified in the mile with a time of 4:07.37. UMass Lowell’s Joey DeWitt (4:10.47), Stonehill’s Kevin Gill (4:11.73), UMass Lowell’s Angus MacDonald (4:11.86), Lock Haven’s Nick Hilton (4:12.49) and Stonehill’s Daniel Pilz (4:12.62) all provisionally qualified in the mile. UMass Lowell won the men’s 4x400m with an automatic qualifying time of 3:11.97.

Findlay All Ohio Invitational – Tiffan’s Andrea Bader ran a provisional qualifying time in the women’s 60 meters with a 7.73. Findlay’s Stephanie Charnigo ran a 57.96 in the women’s 400 meters to provisionally qualify. Her teammate, Raven Clay, won the hurdles with an automatic qualifying mark of 8.49. Ashland’s Alissa Klaehn came in second with a time of 8.57 for a provisional qualifying time.

Tiffin’s Anthony Thomas ran 6.85 in the men’s 60 meters for a provisional qualifying time. Thomas won the 200 meter dash with a provisional qualifying time of 21.97. Ashland’s Joe Horn won the 400 meter dash in 49.29.

Grand Valley Big Meet- Grand Valley duo Kirsten Nozime (57.08) and Kayla Vallar (57.24) provisionally qualified for the women’s 400 meters. Their teammate, Karie McDonald, provisionally qualified in the women’s 800 meter with a time of 2:15.99. Colorado School of the Mines’s Melanie Peddle also provisionally qualified with a 2:16.84. Grand Valley’s Katherine McCarthy (2:10.20) and Monica Kinney (2:12.07) automatically qualified. UW-Parkside’s Jessica Monson ran 4:46.54 in the mile to automatically qualify. Western State’s Megan Johnson (4:57.55), Colorado School of the Mines’s Melanie Peddle (4:58.03), Grand Valley’s Susie Rivard (4:59.07) and Karie McDonald (5:02.70) and Katie Alfredson (5:03.16), and Ferris’s Mikinzie Stuart (5:04.46), Harding's Ester Komen (5:04.83) all provisionally qualified in the mile. Ferris’s Tina Muir automatically qualified in the women’s 5k with a time of 16:55.20. There were seven provisional qualifiers in the 5k including: Grand Valley’s Megan Maceratini (17:06), Shaylee Vanderbann (7:13.97), Western’s Lisa Thomas (17:16.97), Colorado school of the Mines’s Sydney Laws (17:20.84), Grand Valley’s Amy Kolin (17:20.84), Harding’s Vicky Schandevel (17:33.86), and Western’s Sarah Lyle (17:44.58).

Colorado school of the Mines’s Mark Husted won the 800 meters with an automatic qualifying time of 1:50.56. Ferris’s Matt Jozwiak (1:51.47), Grand Valley’s Todd Schuster (1:50.74), and Colorado school of the Mines’s Nick Maynard (1:51.90) also automatically qualified. Harding’s Frank Bolling (1:53.13) provisionally qualified. Colorado school of the Mines’s Mack McLain ran an automatic qualifying time in the mile of 4:06.20. Harding’s Phillip Biwott ran a provisional qualifying time of 4:11.87. Harding’s Daniel Kirwa won the 5k in an automatic qualifying time of 14:11.08. Western State’s Iain Donnan (14:17.89) and Colorado school of the Mines’s Ben Zywicki (14:18.41) also automatically qualified. Provisional qualifiers include: Western State’s Tyler Pennel (14:20.92), Loren Ahonen (14:41.27), and Sean Brown (14:43.18), and Grand Valley’s Tyler Emmorey (14:31.82) and Jeff Nordquist (14:37.26).

ISU Track and field classic- Minnesota Mankato’s Brittany Henderson ran an automatic qualifying time in the women’s 200 meter dash with a 23.61. She won the 60 meter dash with an automatic qualifying time of 7.43. Emporia State’s Vincent Howze provisionally qualified in the men’s 400 meters with a 49.14

University of Washington Huskies- Adams States Janette Cary provisionally qualified in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:17.13. Cary also provisionally qualified in the mile with a 5:00.66. Seattle Pacific’s Jessica Pixler ran a 4:37.88 to automatically qualify. Teammate, Jane Larson (4:47.39), and Adams State’s Sofia Monroe (4:54.46) also automatically qualified. Adams State’s Lavenna Mullenbach (16:59.61) and Heather Wood (17:03.06) automatically qualified in the women’s 5k.  

Adams State’s Josh Streeter automatically qualified in the men’s 400 meters with a 47.51. His teammates, Drew Graham (1:52.37) and Corey De La Cruz (1:52.53), Metro State's Anthony Luna (1:50.53) automatically qualified in the men’s 800 meters.  Adams State’s Florian Theopile (14:29.38) and Ryan McNiff (14:33.92) provisionally qualified in the men's 5k. Adams State’s Brian Medigovich (13:50.89), Aaron Braun (13:52.60), Reuben Chebon Mwei (14:12.17), and Luke Cragg (14:15.12) all automatically qualified in the men’s 5k.
