Brooks Introduces the PR Invitational

No tricky qualifying meets, or tactical races. Brooks just wants the fastest high schoolers in the nation on the same track on the same day to see how fast they can all really go. On February 27th, they will be hosting the Brooks PR Invitational in the hopes that every kid invited does just that, PRs.

So what are the specifics? They will be running the 60m, 60H, 400m, 800m, 1600m and 2Mile events for boys and girls. This event is looking to gather the best in the country to one place to race, so it is based on invitation. Some "Golden Tickets" have been sent out today to the top returning athletes from the 2010 track season and top finishers from this cross country post season. If you fall into that category, you may be getting your very own Golden Ticket in the mail shortly. Beyond that, athletes are encouraged to lobby Brooks for an invite based on performances during the current indoor season and the past xc season. Every athlete invited will be flown out in style for an all expenses paid experience where Brooks will be hooking these kids up and making sure they not only run fast, but have a great time.

How can we ensure that these races will be fast? Well, for one, only the fastest kids will be there. So talent and competition level is there. On top of that, it is being held at the Dempsey Indoor Track at the University of Washington in Seattle. On the collegiate scene, this is known as the fastest indoor track around, where fast people go to run fast. Now it is being opened up to high schoolers so they can show what they've got, run some PRs, US leading times, and maybe even a national record.

Everything you need to know about the inaugural Brooks PR Invitational can be found on the meet website. If you are not one of the lucky ones who will be competing at the Dempsey on February 27th, you can watch all the action LIVE here on Flotrack.
