The Bay Area Track Club (BATC) is proud to announce the inaugural Bay Area Cross Challenge (BAXC). The BAXC is a unique opportunity for runners of all ability levels to compete alongside professional distance runners on a cross country course in the heart of San Francisco. The event is also aimed at establishing a professional cross country season in the United States to compliment the national and international offerings in January and February, namely the US Cross Country Championships and the World Cross Country Championships.
BAXC will be held on Sunday, January 16 at the Polo Fields of Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA. The event will offer an under-20 girls 4k; under-20 boys 6k; open women's 6k; and open men's 8k. A minimum prize purse of $9000 has been set aside and will be split among the top seven performers in the Open men's and women's divisions.
Enjoy post-race food, prizes, and music alongside Olympians and world-class athletes. Some of the elite athletes who will be in attendance include Olympians Magdalena Lewy-Boulet, Shannon Rowbury, Abdi Abdirahman, Bolota Asmerom, and more.
The BATC was formed in the fall of 2009 to provide support for Olympic athletes and emerging elites, and to promote running and lifelong fitness within the community. The BATC is working to become an epicenter of healthy living in the Bay Area, providing valuable resources to the spectrum of youth and adults pursuing an active lifestyle.
