Florida State's men and Clemson's women came away with ACC titles Saturday at Duke University. Florida State rode senior Ciaran O'Lionaird and junior Maurice Mitchell, who both had huge days for the Seminoles.

In the men's 1500, the Irishman had just enough to hold off Virginia's 800/1500 phenom, Robby Andrews, claiming the narrow victory 3:40.69 to 3:40.77.  After a couple of 1:49's earlier in the outdoor season, it was good to see Andrews clock a terrific 1500 time ... as the 3:40.77 set a new personal best.

Hours later, O'Lionaird won his second race of the day, taking the 5k in 13:52.11. Furthermore, he set ACC meet records in both!  The former Michigan runner has found huge success of late, turning in a recent 28:32, a 3:41.02 at the Seminole Invite (in which he solo'd the last 700 meters) and now a 3:40/13:52 double.  Second in the 5k was Will Mulherik, junior from Virginia Tech.

In the men's 200, Maurice Mitchell tied Walter Dix's meet record of 20.19, as FSU used the event to pull away to a team title, going 1 through 4.

Mitchell added a 4x100 team title and a seconds-place finish in the 100 to claim Athlete of the Meet honors.

“Ciaran getting two ACC records on the same day is almost impossible,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “Virginia Tech had a monster day but we were down by 40 and we knew that the back end would carry us. We knew the 100, 200, 5k and the 1500 would provide big scoring chances for us and that’s what happened. It was just an incredible meet for the kids.”
