Morocco and Aussies Outduel USA in DMR

RESULTS

In an absolutely star-studded field, Morocco used a 3:53 anchor to outduel Australia and team USA Red for the win at Penn Relays in the World Distance Medley Relay.

All three teams finished within a half-second, as the difference was Amine Laalou's 3:53.09 anchor leg for Morocco.  Russell Brown was solid, but his 3:57.36 was not enough to secure the win. Leo Manzano kicked like mad to come home in a 3:55.29 split, leading USA Blue to a 4th-place finish.

The race became a 4-team race from the opening leg, as all 4 teams split 2:48's, with American great Bernard Lagat handing off just ahead fellow American David Torrence.

Morocco was able to weather a 1:49 800 leg (in which USA Red and Australia both gained 3 seconds).  All four teams were 9:20 or better, with Morocco missing the World Record by just 2 seconds (with a 1:49 800!)

Team USA Red members : Bernard Lagat (2:48.30), Michael Tinsley (46.13), Duane Solomon (1:46.31), Russell Brown (3:57.36)

Team USA Blue members : David Torrence (2:48.65), Kenneth Ferguson (47.30), Nick Symmonds (1:49.01), Leo Manzano (3:55.29)
