All-Academic team honors announced
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s track and field team has been recognized as an All-Academic selection for the 2011 season as released Thursday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Razorbacks
posted a 3.20 team grade-point averaged during the spring semester and own a 3.10 cumulative team GPA.
Last week, eight members of Arkansas’ women’s track and field team—Makeba Alcide, Tara Diebold, Gwendolyn Flowers, Kristen
Gillespie, Megan Jackson, Paige Johnston, Ivanique Kemp and Miranda Walker—earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
Overall, 11 Razorbacks recorded perfect marks in the classroom during the spring semester. Four members of the team—Diebold,
Jackson, Rachel Carpino and Keri Wood—hold a 4.0 cumulative GPA. In June, Diebold was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America First Team in recognition of her scholastic accomplishments.
Arkansas is one of six teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to earn All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA, joining
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
A total of 164 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better. Princeton
reported a team GPA of 3.68 through the spring 2011 semester, representing the best figure in the nation among all divisions of NCAA track and field. The Big East had 12 of institutions reach All-Academic status to lead all conferences across the country.
