NOTE ON THE NEWS: NYC MARATHON GETS NEW TV DEAL
***Live National Coverage Is Included***
In a story by reporter Ken Belson, The New York Times reported today that the ING New York City Marathon had landed a new television deal which included a live national broadcast for the first time since 1993.
Switching from former broadcast partner NBC (and local affiliate WNBC), the race will be shown live nationally on ESPN2, while shown locally on WABC. There will also be coverage of related events, like the race's opening ceremony, and possibly broadcasts of other NYRR races which feature top athletes, like the NYC Half-Marathon and Fifth Avenue Mile.
