Rupp withdraws from Houston olympic Trials
After weeks of speculation, American 10k record holder Galen Rupp has confirmed that he will not be running the 2012 Olympic Trials in Houston on Saturday. This story was confirmed by OregeonLive Saturday with an interview with both Rupp and Coach Alberto Salazar.
"If he runs a marathon now, he won't be able to run in any indoor meets," Salazar said. "It's going to take a long time to recover. We wouldn't be able to get back to work on his speed until March or April."
This leaves the running world wondering what could have been, and when will Galen take the dive into the distance. No one seems to be doubting that Galen would have been in the mix in Houston, but it looks like will have to wait untill after London for Mr. Rupp to toe the line for 26.2.
