Louisville Track and Field Returns to Bloomington for Hoosier Hills

This marks the final competition before Louisville participates in the BIG EAST Indoor Championships.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In its final meet before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, select members from the University of Louisville track and field teams will compete at the Hoosier Hills at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University, on Friday, Feb. 10, in Bloomington, Ind.

 

Louisville will compete only on the first day of the two-day event, and live results will be available at www.IUHoosiers.com.

 

Chelsea Lucas opens competition for the Cardinals in the pole vault at 6:15 p.m. Lucas, who has already qualified for the BIG EAST Championships, will be looking to improve upon her season-best mark of 3.55m/11-7.75. Kevin Jackson, who also has qualified, is scheduled to compete in the men’s section. Currently, his mark of 4.90m/16-07.5 is tied for sixth best in the conference.

 

A total of five student-athletes are slated to compete in the high jump, two on the men’s side – Michael Edwards and Taylor Caldwell – and three on the women’s side – Michelle Theophille, Megan Schubert and Maggie Gilbertson.

 

Edwards, Theophille and Schubert all rank in the top 40 nationally in the event. Edwards cleared an indoor personal-best 2.20m/7-2.5 to open the season, which holds as the 14th-best mark in Division I. Theophille and Schubert rank Nos. 17 and 33, respectively. Theophille twice has cleared her season-best 1.79m/5-10.5.

 

The only track action of the day will come from Jordan Diaz and Cassie Martin, who will be running in the 800m and searching for BIG EAST qualifying marks.
