Crossman Runs Fastest 10,000 Meters in 28 Years
EUGENE, Ore. – Bronwyn Crossman ran the fastest women’s 10,000 meters for Oregon in 28 years late Friday night at the Stanford Invitational.
In a strong field of professionals and collegians, Crossman ran 33:18.53 to place 21st overall. She was the 12th-fastest collegian in a race won by former Loyola Marymount standout Tara Erdman in 32:31.15.
More impressively for the senior from Bellingham, Wash., her time was the fastest 10,000 meters by an Oregon woman since Kathy Hayes set the school record in 32:43.81 in 1984. It was the third-fastest in school history, raking behind only Hayes and Lisa Martin (33:12.1).
In the menÂ’s 10,000 meters, Parker Stinson ran a 14 second PR to finish 21st in 29:00.07. The sophomore from Austin, Texas, was the 11th-fastest collegian.
Oregon returns home to host the Pepsi Team Invitational Saturday at Historic Hayward Field. The Ducks will face three-time defending NCAA menÂ’s and womenÂ’s champion Texas A&M and Pac-12 rivals UCLA and Washington.
Early field events for the Pepsi meet begin at 10:15 a.m., with the first running event at 12:45 p.m.
