Vena Named ACC MenÂ’s Track and Field Performer of the Week
Freshman broke Virginia shot put record at Patriot Open Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia track and field freshman
Nick Vena (Morristown, N.J.) has been named the ACC MenÂ’s Track and Field Performer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (April 17).
Vena won the shot put at the Patriot Open Invitational in Fairfax, Va., on April 14. The first-year set the Cavalier record in the shot put with a mark of 19.27m (63’ 2.75”), the 10th-best mark in the nation and currently fifth in the NCAA
East region.
The Cavaliers host the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at newly renovated Lannigan Field April 19-21. Admission to the meet is free.
