Virginia Hosts ACC Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday
Action at Lannigan Field begins at 12 p.m., each day
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams host the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at newly renovated Lannigan Field
Thursday through Saturday (April 19-21). The action begins each day at noon.
Admission to the conference meet is free and fans can enter the facility at the entrance to the Lannigan Field/Klockner Stadium/Davenport Field complex. Concessions, ACC merchandise and heat sheets will be available for purchase at the
north end of the track near the entrance. ACC programs will also be available.
Live results for the entire meet and free, live video streaming coverage on Friday from 4-8 p.m., and on Saturday from 1:15 to 5:30 p.m., will be available and linked through
VirginiaSports.com.
Free public parking for the meet is available in the University Hall, John Paul Jones Arena and McCue parking lots. Due to parking in these lots by University employees, there is likely to be limited parking in these lots through the end
of the workday.
There is also expected to be a large amount of traffic on Friday (April 20) due to the ACC MenÂ’s Lacrosse semifinals at Klockner Stadium, so fans are encouraged to allow themselves extra time to arrive. The Emmet/Ivy Garage will also be
available for public parking on Friday only.
The Cavalier women have four student-athletes ranked first in the conference going into the meet, including seniors
Catherine White (5,000 meters),
Maureen Laffan (hammer throw) and
Erin Wykoff (discus) and junior Pearl Bickersteth (high jump).
On the menÂ’s side, senior
Andy Fahringer (javelin), junior Sean Keveren (5,000 meters) and freshman
Nick Vena (shot put) are seeded first in the conference. In addition, senior All-American
Marcus Robinson (triple jump) will make his season debut this weekend and sophomore
Anthony Kostelac is the defending champion in the 800 meters.
Last year, the Cavalier women placed fifth, while the men finished sixth at the ACC meet. Clemson is looking for its third consecutive womenÂ’s crown and Florida State has claimed at least a share of seven straight menÂ’s championships.
