Eugene 2012 Power Rankings - Distance Events
A few major competitions on the domestic scene are in the books. A number of individuals – notably half-milers Molly Beckwith and Duane Solomon and 5000 meter runner Jackie Areson – have run well to put themselves in the mix for Olympic Team contention. We’ve also introduced the darkhorse and others categories to highlight those who did not make the top five this time.

We should have a clearer picture of things after this weekend with the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational, Drake Relays and Penn Relays. Athletes like Bernard Lagat (DMR at Penn) and Jenny Simpson (Drake 1500m) will open up their outdoor seasons while a slew of distance runners will look to run ‘A’ standard times at Stanford.
