Cavaliers Complete First Day of NCAA Championships
Roller finishes 10th in 800m
DES MOINES, Iowa—The Virginia track and field team completed the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday (June 6).
In the menÂ’s 800 meters semifinal, senior
Lance Roller (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) placed fourth in the first heat and 10th overall in a season-best time of 1:47.07. The 2012 ACC ChampionÂ’s time held up through the second heat to qualify, but in the third heat, the top six runners all ran under RollerÂ’s
time.
Junior Sean Keveren (Brentwood, Tenn.) placed 18th in the menÂ’s 10,000 meters final in a time of 30:15.40. In his first NCAA track appearance, Keveren became the first Virginia male to compete
in the 10,000 at the NCAA outdoor meet.
The action continues Thursday (June 7) at 4 p.m. The meet will broadcast live on
ESPN3.com.
