LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville track and field’s Calvin Arsenault registered a personal-best in the 110m hurdles on Tuesday at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday.

Arsenault, who broke the 13-year-old school record this year in the 110m hurdles, clocked a time of 13.82 to finish third in his heat and advance for his native Canada. The Kitchener, Ontario, native is set to race at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET. The top two finishers in each of the three heats plus the runners with the two fastest times advance to the finals on Thursday.

Arsenault tallied five victories in his freshman campaign and, during the outdoor season, qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Rounds in the 110m hurdles.

Prior to arriving in Louisville, Arsenault was a member of Team Canada for the 2011 Pan Am Junior Championships, where he captured the national title in the 400m hurdles. He set the youth Canadian record in the 300m hurdles in 2010 at 38.03. Arsenault is a four-time Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations medalist (two silver, two gold), and one of the gold medals came in 2011 in the 110m hurdles.
