Delaney Anchors U.S. Junior 4x100 Team to Semifinal Win
BARCELONA, Spain – Arthur Delaney anchored the U.S. men’s 4x100 meter relay team to victory in the semifinal round Friday at the IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships.
The American squad of Cameron Burrell, Aldrich Bailey, Arman Hall and Delaney, a freshman from Gresham, Ore., won heat two in 39.25, edging the Bahamas, which finished second in 39.48.
Both squads advanced to SaturdayÂ’s final, where they will have to contend with a Japanese team that was victorious in heat two in 39.01, the second-fastest time ever run at the IAAF World Junior meet.
The Americans will also be up against heat three winner Great Britain (39.09) and runner-up Jamaica (39.19) in the final.
