NICK SYMMONDS SPRINGFIELD 800 SET TO RUN IN HISTORIC WASHBURN DISTRICT
One of a kind race on Oct. 13 to benefit Big Brother Big, Sisters of Lane County
Run with five-time 800 meter U.S. Champion, two-time Olympian and Springfield resident Nick Symmonds at the first of its kind “straight 800” meter road race set to take place in Springfield Oregon on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. The inaugural "Nick SymmondsSpringfield 800" will take over 5th Street in the historic Washburn District in Downtown. Join Nick, other elite athletes and community members from Springfield and Eugene for this all new road race and community party.
How fast can you go? Unlike a typical 800 – which is two laps around an Olympic track, runners of all levels will be able to test themselves on a straight road course with no turns. Everyone can participate in the 800 – which is about a half-mile! Several waves of skill levels will be available and all runners will be chip timed for the most accurate 800 possible.
Following the race, stick around for prizes, live music with Mystery Train and a unique selection of food vendors.
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and run with the five-time U.S. Champion!
Race waves will include:
1. Elite runners (men’s and woman’s wave)
2. Masters – 40 and older (men’s and woman’s wave)
3. Open wave (men’s and woman’s wave)
4. Youth
5. Walkers
