Armory College Prep Program Welcomes New Home

"Classroom 2 Everywhere" Dedication Will Take Place Wednesday

New York, NY - October 1, 2012 - The "Classroom 2 Everywhere," a $500,000 project made possible by the grants from the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey as well as the City Council of New York City, will be dedicated Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:30pm at The Armory.

"'The Classroom 2 Everywhere' is a beautiful testament to the resolve of the New York City community to helping our young adults reach for the very best," says Armory Executive Director Dr. Norbert Sander. "On behalf of these aspiring youngsters I would like to thank especially the Port Authority, Councilman Robert Jackson, Armory Chairman Mike Frankfurt, Armory board member David Kuhns, and New York Road Runners president Mary Wittenberg who have all contributed so much to this magnificent new center. My profound gratitude also goes out to all of our ongoing donors and sponsors who continue to contribute financially to the support of these deserving young student-athletes."

"They are the leaders of tomorrow."

More than 275 student-athletes from mostly New York City public schools participate yearly in this tremendously successful and comprehensive program, which last year graduated 100 percent of Armory Prep's 120 seniors into college and universities of higher learning. A focused strategy of college awareness, SAT prep courses, financial planning and personal essay writing alongside very effective one-on-one counseling make this program unique in New York City as it enables students of varying high school records the chance to show their true worth and advance to the next successful stage in their life's journey.

Led by Manhattan College graduate and four-time Olympian Aliann Pompey, the Armory College Prep staff has become remarkably adept at matching students to their full potential.
