Lolo Jones Makes US Bobsled Team

Update: Both Lolo Jones and Tiana Madison have been selected to the U.S. Bobsled Team as Push Athletes.
Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones’s fate as a bobsledder will be decided on Friday as the United States national team will make its team selections after the races later this week.
Jones is in contention for a spot on the team after surprisingly placing just .05 seconds behind the leaders over the weekend. Jones is working as a push-athlete with pilot Jazmine Fenlator, who used to run track at Rider University.
The original plan by Team USA coach Todd Hays was to have Jones and other Olympians speak to his team. Jones accepted the invitation and decided to push her luck in another sport to see how things went and now she could land a spot on the World Cup team.
The idea to switch to bobsledding was first reported earlier in October by NBC Sports. It was the New York Times that reported a similar story back in 1992, when Hershel Walker made the United States two-man bobsled team.
Jones will be flying through the ice again on Friday, according to her Twitter account. Shortly thereafter, she will find out whether or not she has a chance of traveling to Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

UPDATE: According to the Associated Press' Tim Reynolds, Lolo Jones and Tianna Madison have been named to the US Bobsled Team. World Cup competition will begin at Lake Placid, NY on November 8th.
