The King Stays the King: Rudisha Returns to New York in May

After running the fastest 800-meter run on American soil in 1:41.74, David Rudisha will return to New York City for the 2013 Adidas Grand Prix on May 25th at Ichan Stadium. Meet organizers announced Rudisha will not be the lone world record holder at the meet as newly crowned pole vault leader Jen Suhr will also be comepting at the meet.
Tyson Gay was also among the first elite athletes announced. Last year, he started his road to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games by racing at the Adidas Grand Prix and ran 10.0 for the 100-meter dash. He is coming off a summer where he brought home his first Olympic medal as the men's 4x100-meter relay team took silver.
Fellow 2012 silver medalist Michael Tinsley joins the crew after his second place finish at the Olympics. Gold medalist and a member of the women's 4x100-meter relay world record team, Bianca Knight, will also be running at Randall's Island.
This is the first of several announcements made for the New York meet of the Samsung Diamond League series. Other elite athletes from 2012 included Yohan Blake, Robby Andrews, David Torrence, Alan Webb, and more. Stay tuned for more names to come.
