Ryan Hall Withdraws from the Boston Marathon
American marathoner Ryan Hall has withdrawn from the 2013 Boston Marathon due to a quad injury, according to an announcement by elite race sponsor John Hancock.

Hall has not raced since May 2012 at the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K in New York City, where he finished 15th overall in 30:14.

His injuries started at the 2012 Olympic Games when he pulled out of the marathon 10 miles into the race. A hamstring strain did not allow him to finish.

Hall was also among the elite runners slated for the 2012 New York City Marathon. Before Hurricane Sandy cancelled New York Road Runners' plans, Hall withdrew from the race with a quad strain.

In December, Hall decided to team up with Italian coach Renato Canova and make a trip to Kenya to train with some of his runners there. The quad injury resurfaced and Hall would stay in America.

No word yet as to what Hall's race plans will be after Boston and how long before he gets back to training.
