How Jordan Hasay joined the Oregon Project
A big reason why Jordan Hasay is in her position is due to the fact that she flew to Park City, Utah the day after the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships ended in Eugene. She would meet her new teammates and begin training for her 10,000-meter run in Des Moines within a matter of days.

The weather forecast called for humid conditions. After a disappointing race in Austin at the NCAA Preliminary round, Hasay was not going to succumb to the heat again.

The deadline to chase the IAAF “A” or “B” standard to secure a spot on the United States national team headed to the World Championships in Moscow is July 20. Jordan Hasay and Tara Erdmann will run a 10,000-meter race in Portland to lock up their roster spots after placing second and third at the United States Outdoor Track and Field championship.

Ken Goe of the Oregonian reports the race could be held at Roosevelt High School on July 17, which is just three days before the qualifying window closes. There has been talk about a possible back-up date.

In order for both members of the Nike Oregon Project to make the team, Hasay and Erdmann have the run the “A” standard or one can run the “A” while the other hits the “B” standard. Other possible scenarios are outlined by Mitch Kastoff in his comprehensive guide on the road to Moscow.
