Another teen phenom? Anita Hinriksdottir runs 2:00.49 for Iceland

AnÃta Hinriksdóttir is making some noise in Iceland for a 16-year-old middle distance runner. At the Bauhaus Junioren Gala, she won the 800-meter run in 2:00.49 for the Iceland National Record.
From Ajee Wilson to Jessica Judd, the talent from the World Junior Championship 800-meter final is shining in 2013. Hinriksdóttir just missed the podium with her fourth place finish in 2:03.23. She went on to represent Iceland again in the European Indoor championship, where she ran 2:04.72. On February 2nd, she set the national record indoors with her 2:03.27.
Hinriksdóttir made her move to the front of the race in Barcelona and has no problem running without anyone in front of her. That was the case in several of her indoor races as well. She has a long stride in her running form to go along with her forward lean.
"(Anita) did everything right in this race - just pace all the time," Coach Gunnar Pall Joakimson wrote on his Facebook. "Talked about yesterday to focus on being a strong last 200 meters. She was very strong in the second ring. Terribly proud of it."
The plan for Hinriksdóttir is to run at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine from July 10 to 14.
