NCAA XC Opening Weekend is Here
My long-awaited pumpkin spice coffee was ruined. As I read through this morning’s emails, one particular person decided to end his or her message with the signature: “The leaves on the trees may be dying, but cross country season is coming alive!”

No longer was it in my mug, but seeping into my keyboard, making sure I fully regretted my decision to read and drink. It was wrong on so many levels, but technically, I guess he / she was right. Fall is here, which means a few things. Pumpkin spice everything. Runs in t-shirts and gloves. Switching out christmas tree spikes to quarter-inchers. Cross country.

It’s opening weekend for NCAA XC and even though we don’t have the fanfare and catchy intro song of ESPN’s College Gameday, you should still be excited. It may be only Monday, but here’s what’s on the docket for this weekend.

Note: Some teams have multiple races listed on their schedule. We’ll update each meet when we have more information.

Roy Griak Invitational
Minneapolis, MN | University of Minnesota
Saturday, September 28th, 2013

Flotrack will be live streaming the Roy Griak Invitational for all Flotrack Pro users. We’ll also get a little interdivisional action as DII powerhouse Adams State goes up against #4 BYU, #25 NC State, and #28 Arizona State.

The match-ups of #1 ranked teams doesn’t end there. In the boy’s high school race, Minnesota’s #1 Wayzata HS has a border-clash battle with Wisconsin’s top boys team West Bend West.

The defending NCAA champion Kennedy Kithuka (Texas Tech) will also be in the house. Be prepared for another incredible solo effort.

Not usually home to premier early season action, teams from all over will be heading to The Coast-To-Coast Battle in Beantown - BC XC Invite (extravaganza). Oregon’s transfer Eric Jenkins didn’t wait too long to make a return trip back to the east coast as the #12 Ducks battle #10 Wisconsin and #8 Syracuse on the men’s side.

The women’s race has its share of ranked titans, too. The top team in the land #1 Providence goes up against #3 Oregon as well as a strong #9 Cornell squad.
