Bruce Jenner, the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion, has separated from his wife Kris, according to the popular celebrity news website TMZ. 

A statement by the family was issued saying, "We are living separately and we are much happier this way. But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."

The couple was married for 22 years and have been the subject of E!'s reality television show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." Neither Kris not Bruce has filed for divorce or contacted a lawyer.
