The United States Outdoor Track and Field Championships will return to Sacramento in 2014, U.S.A.T.F. announced on Tuesday morning.

"Sacramento has a tremendous track & field culture and we are very pleased to be returning in 2014," USATF CEO Max Seigel said in a press release. "The fan support in the region is fantastic, and the weather conditions serve sprinters, field event athletes and distance runners alike. We look forward to another successful partnership with the Sacramento Sports Commission."

Last year's outdoor track and field championship was held in Des Moines leading up to the IAAF World Championships in Moscow. 2014 will be an off-year for the outdoor track season without any major world championship or summer Olympic Games on the calendar.

California State University - Sacramento will host the championships at Hornet Stadium, which can hold a capacity of 21,195 people in attendance. The last time Sacramento hosted a U.S. Championship was in 2000 and 2004 as the Olympic Trials. Since then the track has been resurfaced and other upgrades have been made. Most recently, Sacramento hosted the 2011 World Masters Championships.

The 2014 U.S. Outdoor Championships will be held from June 26 to 29. In June 2013, the temperatures from June 26 to 29 ranged from 88 degrees to 107 degrees
