Close Cali battles at Mt. SAC, Davis in the record book, and tough state meets

The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 teams in the country (25 boys and 25 girls).

Mt. SAC and the first crazy wave of State Championships across the nation made for quite the busy weekend for XC!

At Mt. SAC, US#5 Simi Valley (CA) won over an amazing US#9 Great Oak squad, taking the Girl's Team Sweepstakes division with 72 points to 73 points. They posted the fastest team average of 17:55 while Great Oak was 17:59.

US#1 Davis (UT) rolled over the competition at their state championship meet, winning the 5A division for the third straight year with a score of 27 points. American Fork was second with 90. This was perhaps their strongest team to date and certainly ranks among the top all-time team scores in UT history. Just how good is this team get?  We'll leave that to the course in Portland to decide. US#2 Unionville (PA) had quite the battle with US#20 Pennsbury but came away victorious in their state qualifier race by a score of 39 to 56.

US#3 Carmel (IN) won their semi-state race in a close 52 to 61 battle with US#21 Hamilton Southeastern (IN). US#12 Bozeman (MT) dominated the Class AA action at the Montana State Championships with a 18:18 team average.  US#8 Monarch (CO) dominated Colorado 5A states over US#19 Fort Collins and a US#24 Cherry Creek squad, who had an ailing Jordyn Colter. US#7 Seaholm (MI), US#11 Naperville North (IL), and US#15 Northville (MI) dominated with low scores at their respective regional meets as well.
