Boys HS Individual Rankings - Week 12
Huge runs from a bunch in California, two from FL Midwest, and one from FL South
The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 individual in the country (25 boys and 25 girls)
It's the final week for the boys individual rankings as we contest the first of two national championships this weekend with the Nike Cross Nationals. The Foot Locker West Regional is this weekend as well with the Foot Locker Nationals the following weekend.
California was super exciting on the boys side with some favorites winning and others surprising. US#4 Tal Braude (Torrey Pines) continued his great season by winning it all in 15:02 in Division 1. US#7 Estevan De La Rosa (Arcadia) gave him all he had to finish 2nd in 5:03. US#8 Blake Haney (Stockdale) finished 3rd in 15:09 while Blair Hurlock (De La Salle) finished great for 4th in 15:11. Phillip Rocha (Arcadia) ran well for 5th in 15:18.
In Division 2, US#9 Garrett Corcoran (Villa Park) won big in this one with a time of 15:09. The Division 3 race was a surprise with US#10 Aidan Goltra (Campolindo) stunning the favorites in the end, winning with a huge kick in 15:02. #US#15 David Luna (Indio) was 2nd in 15:03 and US#16 Austin Tamagno (Brea Olinda) was 3rd in 15:03 as well.
At the NXN NY Regional, US#17 Mike Brannigan won the individual title with a time of 15:29.9 over TJ Hornberger in 15:40.8. Josh Dryland was 3rd in 15:42.6, US#22 Bryce Millar was 4th in 15:45.2 and Andrew Berge was 5th in 15:45.7.
At the same location the NXN Northeast took place and US#24 Tony Russell (PA) defended his individual title, winning with a time of 15:46.4 over Tom O'Neill (NJ) in 15:47.8. US#25 Mike McClemens (NJ) led CBA with his third place finish in 15:49.0. Christian Stafford was 4th in 15:50.9 and Trevor Hopper was 5th in 15:53.5.
At the NXN South Regional, Taylor Caldwell led the way for Brentwood with his win in 15:05.70. Tommy Mulroy finished 2nd in 15:07.20 while Tyler Spear was 3rd in 15:07.90.
Foot Locker also took place this weekend as well with US#19 Mickey Burke (NY) winning the Northeast Regional boys race with a quick time of 15:19 but was followed closely across the line by US#20 Christian Alvarado (CT) in 2nd with a time of 15:21. Alexander Ostberg (CT) was 3rd in 15:22. The rest of the qualifiers include Liam Mullett (NJ) in 15:29, Josef Holt-Andrews (ME) in 15:37, Daniel Curts (ME) in 15:39, Scott Meehan (NJ) in 15:39, Tai Dinger (DC) in 15:40, Louis Corgliano (NJ) in 15:41, and Ross Wilson (PA) in 15:41.
At the Foot Locker South Regional, US#2 Aaron Templeton (TN) rolled at the end in this one to win in 14:36 over Ben Huffman (NC) in 14:44. Ian Milder (NC) was third in 14:49. Rounding out the qualifiers were US#21 Louis Colson (VA) in 14:50, Mackenzie Haight (VA) in 14:51, Ben Barrett (OK), in 14:51, Tyler Bennett (FL) in 14:52, Brent Demarest (SC) in 14:53, Frank Lara (TX) in 14:53, and Patrick Sheehan (NC) in 14:54.
At Foot Locker Midwest, US#11 Grant Fisher (MI) won the boys race in 15:02 with US#13 Addison DeHaven (SD) in 2nd at 15:09. Jesse Reiser (IL) was 3rd in 15:11. The remaining qualifiers were Toby Hardwick (OH) in 15:13, Jackson Bertoli (IN) in 15:14, Patrick Perrier (IL) in 15:15, Thomas Pollard (IA) in 15:17, Noah Kauppila (MO) in 15:20, David Dalton (IN) in 15:22, and Ryan Robinson (MI) in 15:22.
