Lolo Jones & Lauryn Williams Sochi Bound

Lolo Jones is headed to Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games as a push athlete for Team USA. 2004 Olympic 100-meter dash silver medalist Lauryn Williams was also named to the roster after winning the final World Cup race in Austria with a time of 1:46.28.
Jones and Williams will compete in two sleds on Feb. 18 and 19.
After their first run on Sunday, Jones and driver Jazmine Fenlator found themselves in 11th place. An impressive second run moved them up to seventh place for the day with a time of 1:47.01.
U.S.A. Bobsledding was experimenting with several different lineups throughout the World Cup. Williams won a silver medal while paired with Elana Meyers in Lake Placid, but struggled with Fenlator earlier in the month as they placed ninth in Winterberg, Germany. At that same World Cup event, Jones earned a silver medal paired with Meyers.
There were many question marks prior to the decision announcement on Sunday afternoon.
“I just wanted to come in with positive energy and help out. This is the first time I've been a part of a true team sport, and there's someone else counting on you. You can't let that person down, and that's what drives me,” Williams told USA Bobsledding. “It's very important to give everything I have whenever I'm on that start line.”
Jones is coming off a year in which she failed to make the United States roster headed to the IAAF World Championships in Moscow with a fourth place finish at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She first tried her hand at bobsled after the 2012 Summer Olympic Games and returned to training after her track season ended at the Lausanne Diamond League Meet on July 4th.
Williams announced her retirement from track at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships before wrapping up a few more races in Europe. She decided to begin another Olympic quest in bobsled in July.
