Williams and Jones make history in Sochi

History was made in Sochi on Monday morning as Lauryn Williams and Lolo Jones became the ninth and tenth American athletes to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Williams is in position to make even more history with a shot at medaling. Williams was paired with teammate Elana Meyers for the United States' first bobsled run. After the first two runs of competition, the duo sits in first place with a combined time of 1:54.89. With two more runs on Wednesday, Williams could become the first woman to win a gold medal in both the Summer and WInter Olympics. She was a gold medalist with the United States 4x100-meter relay team at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
Jones is paired with pilot Jazmine Fenlator and sit in 11th place at the end of the first day of competition with their time of 1:56.73. Jones has never won an Olympic medal after finishing seventh in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, depsite being the favorite. She finished fourth in London in 2012.
